Marie Flynn Fine Art ~ A Collection of Best Works
"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything"? ~ Vincent Van Gogh

A Touch of Whimsy
I wanted something colorful to add on a feature wall in my sunroom, to add some life to a bland wall in the space. It sure did the trick, it's very showy.

French Café ~ Just for fun
I was looking at travel websites at the time I painted this that featured France and Paris in particular. I had always enjoyed seeing the sidewalk cafés in them.
I decided to paint one, just for the fun of it.

British Café Interior
I was taking an online acrylic painting tutorial from a popular British artist and instructor. The tutorial was about how to paint a sunlit room interior. It looked at balancing different areas of light and shadow (chiaroscuro) when working on a sunlit interior scene. I love this one.

Out on a Vine ~ Green Grapes
I was visiting a vineyard in the Okanagan area in B.C, when I took this photo. The grapes at the time were not ready to be harvested yet and it was late in the season. I liked how the grapes appeared to be nestled in the density of the leaves.

Flower Power
This flower painting reminds me the 60's and the flower power movement. Although I was young, I was there back then and often think about those times. I love the music of that era and was listening to a protest song of this period as I was painting this. Music seems to have the power to elevate and inspire while painting.

American Kestrel
A friend of mine who lives in Mexico sent me a photo he took of a small colorful bird that landed on a cactus near his home.
He researched it and found it was an American Kestrel. They migrate every year from parts of the southern US to Mexico and is one of the smallest of the Raptors. I love the colors of this bird and the cactus it sat on and decided to paint it.

Branching Out
I found this small branch with leaves growing out of a piece of beached driftwood one summer. It's new life coming forth from the old.

Yellow and Blue ~ Irises
This colorful funky style painting of Irises was a real joy to paint. A lot of color mixing went into creating this piece. It's reminiscent of pop paintings of the 60's and 70's.

Summer Leaves
This is the first in a series of leaf paintings. I will attempt to create leaf paintings depicting the 4 seasons. Hopefully it will turn out as I planned. Enjoy!
